ITUP regional workgroups bring together local leaders to engage in constructive dialogue and creative problem solving to expand access and improve the health of Californians.
Workgroup findings inform ITUP's policy work and future convenings, including the ITUP annual statewide conference held each February in Sacramento.
ITUP maximizes the workgroup discussions through “Notes from the Field” publications, disseminating key findings for policymakers and health care stakeholders. (See ITUP Notes from the Field 2017, highlighting health access and impacts for immigrant communities coping with the new federal immigration climate.)
This year, the workgroups will discuss region-specific opportunities and challenges related to the following:
- Behavioral health integration and improvement. Workgroups will consider progress, challenges, and lessons learned with expanded coverage for mental health and substance use disorder treatment and state efforts to better integrate health, mental health and SUD treatment. Check-in about local implementation of the Drug Medi-Cal – Organized Delivery System and other local innovations and successes.
- Health Reform in California. Workgroups will share and discuss federal and state reform updates, including state efforts to cover the remaining uninsured and stabilize the individual market. Check-in about local progress on the Medi-Cal 2020 Waiver and waiver opportunities for the future.
Lunch will be served at all workgroups. If you have any dietary restrictions or require physical accommodations, please contact our External Affairs Coordinator, Emili LaBass, at [email protected].
Agendas will be posted on the ITUP workgroup page.
